Diego’s! Newport Rhode Island Fun

NEWPORT, RI – Owen O’Connor loves his trips to Newport, RI.  There is always something fun going on.  This time was a trip to Diego’s Mexican Restaurant.  They have an amazing mexican flair that you can’t find anywhere else in Providence or RI.  The dishes are cooked to perfection and there is a HUGE variety of unique cocktails.  The best is probably the hot pepper martini.  Absolutely delicious!  Diego’s has also just opened up a new bodega out by the beach.  They are a small market place selling all kinds of delicious pepper sauces, fresh chips, salsa and Guacamole.  A must try!  Here’s a link to their website:

The Clean Plate | Unique Providence Dining Experience

PROVIDENCE, RI – Owen O’Connor stumbled upon this dining destination last week at lunch time.  A friend had recommended it and Owen figured he would give it a try.  What a unique experience – basically an inside picnic with booze.  Fun!  The food was great also.  While there was a wide variety of traditional Rhode Island dishes on the menu, Owen O’Connor decided to go for a good old fashioned hamburger.  Touch of BBQ sauce and some onion made lunch a real treat.  Found a great review about the restaurant as well in the Rhode Island Monthly –

Mezzo Providence Restaurant in Rhode Island | Owen OConnor’s Take

Providence, RI – Owen O’Connor was able to get out on the town long enough last week in Rhode Island to visit Mezzo in Providence.  The menu was excellent, consisting of lots of great items like Alaskan King Crab Legs, Lobster Bisque, Roast Baffoni Farm’s Chicken and Spaghetti With Lobster Carbonara.  After dinner the restaurant turns into a nightclub, which was a perfect way to unwind after a long work week.  Excellent dinner and excellent live music – definitely one of the best dining spots in Rhode Island.

Bouchards Restaurant | Owen O’Connor Dines Out in Rhode Island

Newport, RI – Baard Moshagen and Owen O’Connor had dinner at Bouchards Restaurant in Newport, RI last weekend.  The menu consisted of amazing items such as Vol au Vent d’Asperges et de Homard (Asparagus and Lobster in Puff Pastry, with a Lemon Beurre Blanc), Salade d’Endives, Roquette et Saumon Fumé (Arugula and Endive Salad with House Smoked Salmon, Goat Cheese, Lemon Olive Oil Dressing), and Filet de Porc aux Poivrons Rouge, Chèvre et l’Epinard (Pork Tenderloin with Spinach, Goat Cheese and Red Peppers, wrapped in Puff Pastry, with a Roasted Garlic Demi glace Sauce).  Short of actually going to France and finding one of it’s finest restaurants, this was downright incredible Rhode Island dining.
